This a shaving set produced by Boker featuring its 6/8 Celebrated Curly Birch razor, a classic black brush, a Boker leather linen backed hanging strop, a small tube of leather balm, camellia oil and a Boker tallow tobacco shave soap.
This set would be ideal for someone who has experience of using a straight razor or at least a shavette. Due to the size of the razor and its square point, it is not a set I would recommend to a complete novice.
The Celebrated Curly Birch Razor from Boker is part of a series which includes The Celebrated Wenge. The scales are made from a wood called curly birch, which is similar to silver birch but which has a genetic defect that causes the tree to twist on the stem with curls. It is a dense and robust wood which means it is particularly suitable for knife handles and in this case razor scales. The graining and appearance of the scales will vary from one razor to another.
The scales have a contemporary shape and are inlaid with the Boker tree logo in a bronze colour on a black background. The 6/8 satin finish carbon blade is plain as is the angular spine although there is jimping to the upper side. The square nose is set off by the faceted point to the spine. All in all a stunningly simple design and ideal for any customer seeking a razor with a natural look. This razor can be found on the site under reference IE020075.

The black shaving brush has soft synthetic bristles and has a chrome effect base and trim. The knot size is approx. 20mm and the overall height approx. 105mm. This brush can be found on the site under reference A020006
This linen backed hanging strop is made from a smooth high quality cowhide leather strop which is soft to the touch, backed with linen and complemented with nickel plated steel fittings. It is 45 mm wide with 300 mm of leather visible and an overall length of 460mm. Supplied with a 5ml tube of non-abrasive paste. This is essentially a leather balm to keep the leather supple and free from cracks.Available on site under reference IE020051.
The Camellia Oil included in the set is extracted from the seed of the camellia tree, camellia oil is food safe and impresses with its special and is traditionally used to protect carbon steel from corrosion. Bottle 100ml.
The Boker soap has classic tobacco fragrance and is supplied in a metal tin.
The Shaving Set is supplied in a tissue lined cardboard box printed with the Boker logo.
