Description
This 5/8 Ralph Aust razor sports unusual black micarta scales styled with a more modern square end to them to make this razor a truly splendid example of Ralf Aust’s work. There is the usual “Ralf Aust Solingen” mark on the tang and the “Solinger Handarbeit” – handmade in Solingen – blade marking. Micarta is made by heating and applying pressure to layers of material, in this case black cloth, to produce a tough and hardwearing laminate. This, together with the shape of the scales, makes for a razor which is both modern and classic. The carbon steel blade is satin finished. All Ralf Aust razors have a full hollow ground blade.
