Another new addition to our range of Ralf Aust razors this 7/8 version has a carbon steel satin finished blade and is set off by some stunning horn scales. The spine is etched with a floral design. It has the usual “Ralf Aust Solingen” mark on the tang and the “Solingen Handarbeit” – handmade in Solingen – mark on the blade.
This razor is for a more experienced straight razor user looking for a large razor with some weight to it.
The blade has a square point or American crown as it is described by Ralf Aust. The horn used by Ralf Aust varies in colour from black, through various shades of grey and cream to a pale amber colour. They can also be translucent in places. The images show two different razors and are illustrative of the variation of colour that can occur in horn scales. They are not photos of razors we necessarily have in stock. The two razors we have in stock at the moment have black horn scales. One has scales that are almost completely black and the other has scales which are a mixture of black and grey.
The scales on these razors are in the traditional style and highly polished to show off the horn’s colouring to its best advantage. If you have a particular preference with regards to scale colour then please get in touch before you purchase and we will try to accommodate you. The spine has a flower pattern laser etched on to the top – something we have added to some razors which make up our expanded Ralf Aust range. The tang has jimping to the upper and lower sides. All Ralf Aust razors have a full hollow ground blade.
